Preparing for the General Availability of the new Card visual

Headshot of article author Jacinda Eng

The new Card visual in Power BI will soon be generally available! This release brings a modern, visually engaging way to highlight key metrics in your reports, packed with new capabilities and significant improvements.

Rendering improvements

Rendering has been completely re-engineered to align with best practices for responsive design. This means when you resize the Card visual the proportions of each section are maintained, and the bottom sections will no longer be cut off.

What this means for your existing reports

This rendering improvement may change how the new card visual appears in existing reports, especially for cards with short heights.

Once released in GA, the default callout size and background formatting will be applied to the visual whether or not a divider is enabled. In public preview, these settings are only accessible when a divider is toggled on. Follow these steps to set the callout size and background to prepare for GA.

  1. Toggle on the divider.
  2. Adjust the callout size to your preferred look.
  3. Adjust the background color of your reference labels to your preferred look. If you prefer to keep the background hidden when the divider is off, simply turn the background setting off to maintain your current design.
  4. Keep the divider toggled on in the divider group to ensure consistent alignment and for best design practices. You can also turn off the divider and keep the background and callout size settings applied on the visual.
