Introducing enhancements to the image visual, bringing it closer to the level of interactivity and design flexibility you’ve come to expect with visuals. This update empowers report creators to craft more engaging experiences for report consumers. Report creators can easily maintain image visuals with more image formatting options, more image source options, the ability to change the image in-place.
State-based customization
The image visual now supports state-based formatting, allowing you to define distinct styles for:
- All: Styling across all states.
- Default: Styling when the image is displayed.
- Hover: Styling when a user hovers over the image.
- Pressed: Styling when the image is clicked or tapped.

Create dynamic visual feedback for images, perfect for navigation elements, branded visuals, and interactive storytelling.
Rich styling controls
Alongside state customization, we’ve added more formatting options to give you finer control over the look and feel of your image visuals:
- Background: Add colors to enhance contrast or match your report theme.
- Border: Customize border color, thickness, and radius around your image.
- Shape: Customize the roundness of corners for your image visual to align with other visuals.
Image sources and effects
We’ve also expanded the sources, fit and effects section, giving you control over:
- Source of the image: Add an image through an internet URL or data column in addition to uploading from your device.
- Image fit: Select Fit, Fill, Center, or Stretch to set how your image is displayed within the visual.
- Exposure, Contrast, Saturation, Blur: Fine-tune the image’s visual look directly within Power BI.
You no longer need to delete the visual to update its image. With the latest update, you can easily change the image source or swap out the image itself, making edits faster and more flexible.
